Het móest ervan komen: een voorstelling over het hertje waar Mimetheatergroep Bambie naar is genoemd. Maar waar kleine Disney-Bambi opgroeit in een idyllisch woud met pratende dierenvriendjes, de liefde vindt en vader wordt van nieuwe Bambi’s, blijft Bambi in het originele verhaal uit 1923 van de Oostenrijkse schrijver Felix Salten alleen. In het boek is de natuur wreed en om te overleven, moet je leren op jezelf te vertrouwen.

In haar absurdistische en emotioneel geladen theatertaal zet Mimetheatergroep Bambie de Disney-romantiek en het Salten-realisme tegenover elkaar. Iconische filmscènes zoals Bambi’s geboorte of de glibberpartij op het ijs, krijgen een nieuwe vertaling. Drie individuen zoeken in Bambie speelt Bambi een persoonlijk antwoord op de vraag wat onze ‘natuurlijke’ bestemming is. En welke levenslessen er nodig zijn om in deze tijd volwassen te worden.

In the book, nature is cruel and in order to survive, you must learn to trust yourself. In its absurdist and emotionally charged theatrical language, Mime theatre group Bambie juxtaposes Disney romanticism and Salten realism. Iconic film scenes such as Bambi’s birth or the slippery party on the ice are given a new translation. Three individuals search in Bambie, Bambi plays a personal answer to the question of what our ‘natural’ destination is. And what life lessons are needed to become an adult in this day and age.
