In FUTURE VOICES presenteert Nicole Beutler Projects de makers van de toekomst. Met dit seizoen Lucinda Wessels en Timo Tembuyser in een double bill over identiteit in beweging. Wessels’ multidisciplinaire dans duet Fluid Figures en Tembuyser’s post-porn pop concert Isle of Eros houden een krachtig pleidooi tegen hokjesdenken. Op geheel eigen wijze onderzoeken ze de maakbaarheid van identiteit en fluïditeit van gender.

Fluid Figures is een fysieke en gelaagde voorstelling waarin dans, sound en performance samensmelten tot een hybride geheel. Vanuit een queer, bi-cultureel perspectief gaat Lucinda Wessels op een innerlijke zoektocht naar identiteit. De dansers belichamen verschillende rollen en perspectieven en creëren een dynamiek waarin contrast en verbondenheid tegelijk voelbaar zijn. Fluid Figures daagt het publiek uit om vaste grenzen los te laten en tegenstellingen te ervaren als onderdeel van één geheel.

Isle of Eros is een erotisch concert over ‘het verlangen naar eenheid’, waar het verlangen te versmelten met de ander botst op het verlangen een sterk vormgegeven individu te zijn. Na verschillende voorstellingen waarin de zingende gemeenschap centraal staat (Mementum, Missa Homo Sacer, Mystica, NOW WE ARE EARTH), zet Timo Tembuyser zichzelf nu als solist neer. Een quirky Master of Ceremonies neemt ons mee in een post-porn pop concert. Een ode aan de wilde man, aan queerness, aan seksualiteit en aan liefde.

Wessels’ multidisciplinary dance duet Fluid Figures and Tembuyser’s post-porn pop concert Isle of Eros make a powerful plea against pigeonholing. In their own unique way, they explore the malleability of identity and the fluidity of gender.

Fluid Figures is a physical and layered performance in which dance, sound, and performance merge into a hybrid whole. From a queer, bi-cultural perspective, Lucinda Wessels embarks on an inner quest for identity. The dancers embody various roles and perspectives, creating a dynamic in which contrast and connectedness are simultaneously palpable. Fluid Figures challenges the audience to let go of fixed boundaries and experience contradictions as part of a single whole. Isle of Eros is an erotic concert about ‘the desire for unity’, where the desire to merge with the other clashes with the desire to be a strongly shaped individual. After various performances centering on the singing community (Mementum, Missa Homo Sacer, Mystica, NOW WE ARE EARTH), Timo Tembuyser now presents himself as a soloist. A quirky Master of Ceremonies takes us into a post-porn pop concert. An ode to the wild man, to queerness, to sexuality, and to love.
